The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the Federal Capital Territory has hailed the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, Muktar Aliyu Betara, as he celebrates his 59th birthday.
In a statement the council’s chairman, Grace Ike, said Betara has built “a legacy of service, compassion and accountability” since entering the House of Representatives in 2007 as the member for Biu, Kwaya Kusar, Bayo and Shani in Borno State.
She said his leadership of the FCT Committee has helped drive improvements in Abuja’s infrastructure, with increased budgetary attention and upgrades to essential services across the capital.
According to the NUJ, Betara has also supported a range of humanitarian and community projects, including the provision of medical equipment, youth and women empowerment programmes, as well as the development of health centres, street lighting, ambulances and recreational facilities.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we also acknowledge his enduring commitment to national development and the countless lives he continues to impact,” Ike said.
The NUJ also wishes him continued strength, good health and success as he marks this new age.
Betara, now serving his sixth term, is regarded as one of the most influential committee chairmen in the 10th National Assembly.
