President Tinubu says his administration remains committed to improving opportunities for Nigerian children.
President Tinubu made the remark at the launch of “The Power of a Teenager: 50 Ways to Inspire Change,” a youth leadership book written by the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and founder of the Children of Africa Leadership and Values Development Initiative, CALDEV, Mr Bamidele Salam.
Represented by his aide in the National Assembly, House matters, Ibrahim Olarewaju, Tinubu praised Salam for promoting youth development and urged parents, teachers and community leaders to intensify mentorship efforts.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by Kingsley Uzoma, said the initiative reflects the potential of Nigerian children and supports government’s broader youth empowerment goals.
The president’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, also applauded the project, describing children as central to Nigeria’s future and calling Salam’s consistency in publishing the annual book a mark of dedication.
The Author of the book, Mr Bamidele Salam said he founded CALDEV in 2015 to address what he described as gaps in leadership training within Nigeria’s education system.
He explained that the organisation’s annual National Children’s Leadership Conference has equipped hundreds of children with leadership, public speaking and community service skills, with many later leading advocacy campaigns or forming NGOs.
He urged state governments to replicate the programme, noting that about 400 children are attending this year’s edition.
House Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda and Borno lawmaker Zainab Gimba also commended Salam, saying the initiative is helping prepare a new generation of young leaders.
