The House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Implementation and Oversight of the Naira-for-Crude Oil Policy has given invited agencies a seven-day deadline to submit documents needed for its investigation or face sanctions.
Chairman of the
Committee, Boniface Emerengwa said most of the agencies failed to attend investigative hearing in Abuja and did not provide the documents requested.
He described the absence as “gross negligence” and “a disregard for the legislative process.”
The committee has extended the deadline for document submission to 27 November and rescheduled the hearing to 2 December.
Emerengwa warned that any agency that fails to comply could face consequences, including summonses, public naming and possible disciplinary action by the House.
He said the delays had undermined the committee’s work on a policy he described as central to Nigeria’s economic accountability.
He urged stakeholders to “treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves,” saying the time for excuses had ended.
