Unity, Shared Vision, Foundation For Nat’l Progress

todayNovember 13, 2025

Background

Nigerians have been urged to embrace patriotism, unity, and moral integrity as essential values for overcoming disunity, corruption, and underdevelopment in the country.

The call was made during the public presentation of a new fiction titled “Let’s Be One” by Mr. Andrew Obiagba, held in Bwari, Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Obiagba said the book serves as a clarion call for Nigerians and Africans to rise above ethnic divisions, selfishness, and the lingering effects of colonialism and exploitation.

He noted that unity and shared vision remain the foundation for national progress and social harmony.

“That Africans were once enslaved, colonised, and exploited is not enough reason to remain where we are today,” he said.
“No matter our class conflicts, ethnic differences, or religious divides, our unity and common vision are essential to achieving the growth and development we desire as a nation.”

He explained that the book’s storyline follows two visionary youths who share a dream of building a strong and viable nation. Their noble vision, however, is tested by greed and self-interest, forcing them to rediscover the value of unity and collective purpose.

According to him, the monarchical system depicted in the book symbolises selfless and people-driven leadership, anchored on inclusivity and moral governance values he said are crucial to national rebirth.

Reviewing the book, Mr. Theophilus Chigudu described “Let’s Be One” as a socio-political allegory that blends fiction, history, and moral philosophy to examine the crises of leadership and identity in post-colonial Africa.

“This work mirrors our social reality, exposing how political ambition and moral decay continue to threaten the soul of a nation blessed with immense potential,” Chigudu said.
“It is both an appeal and a thesis reminding us that disunity, corruption, and external manipulation remain Africa’s greatest obstacles to progress.”

He recommended the book to students of Political Science, History, and all Nigerians concerned with good governance and civic responsibility, describing it as bold, insightful, and timely.

Chairman Bwari Area Council, Mr. John Gabaya, who unveiled the book with a donation of ₦1 million, commended its message of patriotism and unity, noting that such values are essential for national stability and development.

Gabaya also praised the author’s creativity and dedication, promising to support efforts aimed at promoting the book’s reach and impact among young Nigerians.
