Kogi Govt Inaugurates 80 Rehabilitated Primary Health Care Centres

Background

Kogi State Government has inaugurated eighty Revitalized Primary Health Care Facilities across the State.

The Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo while inaugurating the facilities at the Primary Healthcare Centre, Old Market, Lokoja said the exercise was to transform primary healthcare facilities into functional and modern health centres in the state.

Alhaji Usman Ododo reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen, regardless of location, had access to efficient and affordable healthcare services, especially at the grassroots.

Executive Director of the NPHCDA, Doctor Muyi Aina, commended the Kogi State Government for its active participation in national health development initiatives.

Doctor Aina promised that the Federal government, through the NPHCDA, will continue to collaborate with the state to expand access to primary healthcare services, enhance infrastructure, and strengthen health systems.

The State Commissioner of Health, Doctor Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza maintained that the revitalization of the eighty health care facilities across the State was part of Governor Ododo’s commitment to strengthen the State’s healthcare system, which had seen significant improvements.

While applauding the Governor for his commitment towards the health sector, Doctor Adams advised health workers to ensure that the vision and mission of government was sustained and maintained.

The Executive Director, Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Doctor Muazu Omeiza Musa disclosed that the eighty Primary Health Centers were taken from level one to level two in the first Phase using PHC Old Market, Lokoja as a prototype.

Doctor Muazu called on stakeholders in the local government Areas to sensitize their people on the need to ensure the safety of the Commodities and facilities handed over to them.

He appreciated Governor Usman Ododo for prioritizing health and always ready to heed the call of the Agency, promising to keep the flag of Kogi State flying as the Agency renders efficient services at all times.

Doctor Muazu also applauded the support from the World Bank assisted project, the IMPACT project, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency for making the event possible.

Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area who is also the ALGON Chairman, Kogi State, Tosin Olokun, on behalf of the Council Chairmen, commended the initiative, assuring community cooperation and security for the safety of the facilities.
