todayOctober 28, 2025

Background

The federal government, in collaboration with the World Bank is training three hundred youths on fisheries, poultry, and animal husbandry.

At the flag off of the training in Gora, Karu Local government of Nasarawa state, the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe said the initiative by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu would go a long way to engage youths in meaningful ventures in achieving food security.

Dr. Akabe said the initiative will not only enhance food security but distract the teaming youth population from heinous activities leading to insecurity and other vices detrimental to the nation’s development.

In a message, the National Coordinator, Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills Project IDEAS, Mrs Blessing Ugwu said it marks a step in the nation’s effort to empower young Nigerians with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to thrive in a fast-evolving world.

Mrs Ugwu, who was represented by the Head of Communication Uche Mbaogu, stressed that the initiative was part of the government’s reaffirmation to tackle unemployment, foster innovation, and promote inclusive development across the country.

“To our young beneficiaries, seize this opportunity. Learn, grow, and let this program be the springboard to your success story. The future belongs to you, and the IDEAS-TVET Initiative, World Bank funded is here to help you claim it.”

Earlier, the Training Service Provider, Professor John Kennedy-Opara, of the CSS Integrated farms urged the youths to embrace the initiative as a vision which would not only transform them but boost the nation’s image positively at the global community.

Professor Opara advised the youths to have a vision that would enable them to achieve their goal and a path to success.

The first batch cohort of the training is the World Bank-supported initiative by the Nigerian government to improve the country’s Technical Vocational and Entrepreneur Training system, equipping young people with skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
