todayOctober 27, 2025

Background

The Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria has re-elected Dr. Chris Akomas as its National Chairman for another three-year term.

The re-election, which took place during the Forum’s General Meeting and Congress, in Abuja also saw the inauguration of new executive members who will serve alongside Dr. Akomas for the next three years.

In his acceptance speech after the election, Dr. Akomas expressed gratitude to members of the Forum for the confidence reposed in him and the newly elected executive members.

He assured members of his team’s commitment to building on the Forum’s achievements and strengthening its role in promoting good governance and national development.

“We hereby accept today’s task of continuing to serve the Forum, We promise to do our best, but we also appeal for your continued support, because without it, it will be difficult to achieve much.” he said.

Reflecting on the Forum’s milestones, Dr. Akomas highlighted the establishment of the Renewed Hope Agenda Peer Review Group as one of its major achievements.

He pledged that the new executive would sustain momentum by working closely with relevant authorities, technical experts, and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of its objectives.

“We are prepared to continue to serve the Forum and our country, Nigeria,” he affirmed. “With God’s mercy, we will deliver even better than before.”

Dr. Akomas acknowledged the dedication of the outgoing executive and thanked members for recognizing their efforts as worthy of continuity.

He also extended appreciation to his colleagues, members of the press, security personnel, and the Forum’s secretariat for their tireless support during the election process.

The re-elected Chairman also commended the outgoing executives for their sacrifice and commitment, describing their teamwork as instrumental in advancing the Forum’s vision.

He called for unity and active participation among members, noting that the new executive would focus on encouraging greater attendance and involvement in the Forum’s activities.

“This new executive has been tasked with the responsibility to make sure our members attend more meetings,” Dr. Akomas said.
