The newly sworn in Chairman of the independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan has pledged to give priority to the welfare staff
Addressing the staff of the commission on assumption of office in Abuja and official take over of leadership of the Commission from the acting INEC Chairman, Mrs May Agbamuche Mbu, Professor Amupitan urged the staff to work as a team for them to achieve set objectives.
He also assured that a conducive working environment would be provided for the staff to carry out their official duties effectively .
He also promised to deliver free fair and credible elections that will reflect the will of Nigerians.

“The integrity of our elections is not something we should even negotiate.It is the soul of democracy.”
According to him, the forthcoming Governorship election in Anambra State is a critical test of the Commission’s commitment towards credible polls.
Earlier, the acting chairman,Mrs May Agbamuche -Mbu, expressed optimism that Professor Amupitan would improve on the strong institutional foundation of the electoral body.
She congratulated Professor Amupitan and promised the support of the staff in his assignment.
The event was attended by the wife and children of the new INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan, senior staff of the University of Jos and INEC.
