Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has resumed her duties at the Senate following the completion of her six-months suspension.
Her return took place during Tuesday’s plenary session, signaling the end of a development that had sparked national discussions and a series of legal disputes.
The Senate proceeded on its annual recess on July 24, with an initial plan to reconvene on September 23. However, according to a memo signed by the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Chinedu Akubueze, the resumption date was later postponed to October 7.
Upon her arrival at the chamber, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan took her seat and exchanged pleasantries with fellow lawmakers.
She was accompanied to the National Assembly by a number of civil society advocates, including Bring Back Our Girls co-convener, Aisha Yesufu, who observed proceedings from the Senate gallery.
