Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, has reaffirmed the country’s strong commitment to the Africa Water Vision 2063.
Prof Utsev made this known at the 14th Ordinary Session of the African Ministers’ Council on Water, AMCOW, in Dakar.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director information and Public Relations in the Ministry in Abuja .
According to the statement, the Minister praises AMCOW’s leadership and described the Vision as a bold and transformative framework that captures Africa’s aspirations for water security, safe sanitation, and sustainable development.
“The Africa Water Vision 2063 reflects our shared goals as a continent, Nigeria stands ready to work with fellow African nations to translate this Vision into practical programs that will benefit our people”Utsev states.
It emphasizes that the Minister’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to integrated water resources management and climate-smart sanitation systems, key priorities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the statement during the session, Professor Utsev urged Nigerian communities to become guardians of rivers and warned that negligence could lead to environmental disasters.
It stresses that Professor Utsev engaged with other African ministers, African Union officials, and development partners to adopt the Africa Water Vision 2063 and launch its implementation.
The statement adds that the Minister participated in the conference with other senior officials from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.
