todaySeptember 26, 2025

Background

In a bid to further open up the Federal Capital Territory and accelerate development, the FCT Administration has flagged off the construction of 10.5 kilometers of access roads, N11, N16, N40, and SILS 03, to serve the Renewed Hope Housing Estate within the Karsana District of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC.

The project, slated for completion within 18 months, is expected to drive rapid development in the district in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking at the ceremony, the FCT Minister, Dr Nyesom Wike, described the flag-off as a fulfillment of promises made to residents, particularly on the provision of infrastructure. He emphasized that road network is the foundation of any modern city.

“No city can truly be called a city without good road networks. That is the first mark of development before hospitals, schools, or other facilities can be built.

“Without roads, even investments make no sense. That is why we are here, to provide the critical infrastructure that will unlock the potential of this district,” Wike stated.

The Minister assured residents that adequate funding has been secured to ensure timely delivery, adding that the roads will be inaugurated during the third anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration.

He commended the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority,FCDA, and his team for their commitment to quality delivery, while calling on residents to cooperate with contractors to ensure smooth execution.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment Wike said “This is a promise made under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and today, it is a promise kept.”

In her remarks, the FCTA Acting Head of Service, Mrs Nancy S. Nathan, described the project as a strategic intervention that will ease traffic congestion, connect Karsana District with other parts of the city, and promote both commercial and residential growth.

She noted that the Administration remains resolute in delivering projects that touch lives, stimulate economic growth, and leave lasting legacies.

Also speaking, the Acting Executive Secretary of FCDA, Mr. Richard Dauda Yohana explained that the road construction include earthworks, site clearance, culverts, drainage systems, and solar-powered street lighting.

He added that the 10.5 km stretch will not only reduce travel time but also improve security in the area.

Mr. Yohana further called for the cooperation of residents and community youths to enable smooth and timely implementation of the project.

According to the FCDA Boss, with the commencement of these access roads, Karsana District is now set to witness a new wave of development, positioning it as one of Abuja’s fastest-growing neighborhoods.
