Focus On Road Construction, Building Sector To Create Jobs – FOCI

The Federation of Construction Industry FOCI has called on government at all levels to focus more attention on road rehabilitation, construction and building sector to engage teeming young Nigerians seeking for gainful employment.

President of the Federation, Chief Vincent Barrah who made the call while addressing news men in Abuja said it was the only the construction sector which apart from enhancing social economic activities in the country that could absorb high number of unemployed Young Nigerians .

Chief Barrah believes that it was only when the government address the challenges facing the youths that the current security situation could be brought to an end.

He commended the FCT minister Mr Nyeson Wike for embarking on massive construction in the nation’s capital saying this has lifted the faces of Abuja and engaged thousand of Youths who would have become nuisance in the Six area Councils.

The President of the Federation of Construction Industry however appealed to other Government agencies to always engage the services of professionals for delivery of quality projects.

” The only way to address poor implementation of project is to stop engaging quacks”

He also stressed the need for the government to always abide by the agreement and stop contract termination.

In a remark the Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund Mr Oluwaseun Faleye said the Federal Government would continue to defend and ensure the safety of all Workers at work place .

Mr Faleye urged all the players in the construction industry to always foster work environment where workers can operate confidently and securely.
