FRSC Boss Tasks Special Marshals On Effective Traffic Management

todaySeptember 24, 2025

Background

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mallam Shehu Mohammed, has called on Special Marshals to remain strategic partners by harnessing their collective resourcefulness towards safer roads and improved traffic management in Nigeria.

The FRSC Corps Marshal who made the call in Abuja at the Special Marshal National Summit with the theme Special Marshals Strategic Role in Road Safety Administration emphasised that the country’s traffic challenges were part of a global reality.

He therefore called on all Nigerians, including road designers, engineers, policymakers, and stakeholders to contribute to enhancing road infrastructure and safety systems in Nigeria.

The Corps Marshal commended Special Marshals for complementing the efforts of regular marshals through both human and material contributions.

According to him, the Corps will continue to appreciate Special Marshals for their invaluable input, which has reflected on the overall successes of the FRSC

For the record, between 2020 and 2025, they have contributed in terms of infrastructure, vehicles, devices, and knowledge-sharing.

“This is in addition to promoting road safety education, collaborating with stakeholders, and supporting research that informed new policy decisions,” he said.

Mallam Shehu Mohammed said the 2025 summit should inspire Special Marshals to further commit themselves to improving FRSC operations, beginning with the election of highly motivated executive committee members.

In her goodwill message, the President, Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem commended the FRSC Corps Marshal, and other Stakeholders while emphasising that volunteerism complements government’s efforts.

Volunteerism is an act of selfless sacrifice to a community and, in your case, to our great nation, Nigeria. It is the evidence that government cannot do it all by itself.

Also, Justice Babatunde Adejumo, the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI), said that traffic management remained a global priority as millions of lives are lost yearly due to road mismanagement, disobedience and neglect.

Justice Adejumo, however, noted that this was the concern that motivated the founding fathers of the FRSC.
