Kaduna : Head Of Service Harps On Efficient Use Of Artificial Intelligence

Kaduna State Head of Service, Mrs Jummai Bako, has called on Public Servants in the state to make effective use of Artificial Intelligence, AI to enhance productivity and performance of the service.

Mrs Bako made the call during a one day workshop organized by the office of the Head of Service in collaboration with the National Productivity Centre, for Public Servants between grade levels ten and thirteen as well as some directors in the state.

Declaring the workshop open, the Head of Service, Mrs. Jummai Bako explained that, Artificial Intelligence, AI tools can help government make better decisions, address long standing issues like bureaucratic bottlenecks and corruption, hence the need for all public servants in Kaduna State to key into it.

Mrs. Bako noted that the importance of AI in public service delivery can not be over emphasised as it will go a long way to enhance efficiency, improve transparency and increase workers satisfaction by automating tasks, optimizing resource allocation and providing data driven insights.

She explained that the Kaduna State government under the leadership of Mallam Uba Sani is playing a vital role towards formulating policies that support public servants in enhancing their capacities to meet present realities in ICT.

“The key to thriving in this AI driven future is adaptability. We need to foster a culture of life long learning, where workers continuously update their skills to stay relevant,” she said.

In his paper presentation, a facilitator at the program and State Coordinator National Productivity Centre, Malgwi Gideon stressed the need for public servants to focus on developing themselves to give in their best in their work places.

On his part, Professor Ayuba Peter with the department of mathematical science, Kaduna State University who spoke on the topic: enhancing artificial intelligence to improve public service productivity in Kaduna State, explained that leavarging on AI would go a long way to make their work easy.

Professor Ayuba recommended that a taskforce should be constituted to draft a policy statement that would guide the use of AI in the workforce to avoid inappropriate use of it.

In an interview, some of the participants at the workshop, Mr. Alexander Garba with the office of the head of service, Mrs. Victoria Williams with KASACA and Mr. Nuhu Yakusa with Kastlea said the training has helped to educate them on how to get their work done with ease.

They said service productivity and performance is key and promised to make judicious use of the knowledge gained.

The workshop theme is the strategies and use of Artificial Intelligence towards improving performance and productivity.
