Creating Opportunities For Women A Plus To PBAT’s Administration- Chikwe

The founder, Women Leadership Institute, WLI, Dr Kema Chikwe has described President Bola Tinubu’s policy direction towards opening up significant opportunities for women, as commendable.

She gave the commendation at the eighth anniversary conference of the Institute in Abuja with the theme “Women Leading Together – Power In Partnership, Purpose in Action”.

Dr Chikwe noted that the idea of having women in the mainstream of leadership is for them to have a voice as the true feelings of women are not represented when the men speak for them as it is the case in Nigeria.

Speaking at the conference, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim who was represented by the Director of Economic Service, Mrs Blessing Anunike expressed disappointment that women are not well represented in all sectors noting that thirteen states of the Federation currently do not have women in their State Houses of Assembly.

At the conference, one of the speakers, Mrs Cecelia Omoren, said women have to be intentional and bold to be able to strive, adding that, many women are talented but fear and cultural constraints restrict them.

The event drew women representatives from different groups across the country.
