In an effort to close the infrastructural gap across the Federal Capital Territory FCT Area Councils, three top priority areas have been identified to address the basic needs of residents and promote socio-economic development.
Speaking as a guest on Politics Today, a Kapital FM programme, the Accord Party Chairmanship Candidate for Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC, Mr. Vaniah Akanimoh Agbon, outlined healthcare, basic emergency and safety services, and road rehabilitation as key focus areas.
Discussing the topic “Bridging the Infrastructure Gap in FCT Area Councils: Setting Development Priorities Ahead of the 2026 Elections”, Mr. Agbon stressed the need to upgrade and equip healthcare facilities, strengthen emergency and safety infrastructure, and rehabilitate critical road networks.
He called for synergy among the three tiers of government to ensure effective execution of projects that would improve the lives of FCT residents.
On Education, the Accord Party candidate emphasized the importance of technological advancement, particularly in digitalizing the payroll system to improve teachers’ welfare, as well as upgrading facilities in public schools.
While commending the current FCT Administration’s commitment to water projects, Mr. Agbon emphasised the need to complement these efforts by ensuring the timely completion of such projects for the benefit of residents.

Mr. Agbon, who reiterated the need to build a system of continuity and sustainability, underscored the importance of exploring alternative energy sources, such as solar and other renewable options, to reduce dependence on the national grid and improve power supply across the council.
