Senate Adjourns Till September 23

todayJuly 24, 2025

Background

The Senate has adjourned plenary to the 23rd of September to mark the end of a legislative year and has directed all committees to work on pending reports to enable lawmakers act on them when they resume.

The adjournment was announced on Thursday by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, after an executive session that lasted for over an hour.

Senator Akpabio charged all ad hoc and standing committees to utilise the two-month break to conclude work on their reports in preparation for consideration and adoption upon resumption.

In his remarks earlier, he encouraged senators to also take time during the recess to inspect ongoing road construction projects within their constituencies and across the country.

Lawmakers are also expected to travel to Jos, Plateau State, for the burial of the wife of Senator Diket Plang, which is scheduled for tomorrow.
