Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the 2023 election, Dumebi Kachikwu, has kicked against the appointment of ex-Senate President David Mark as the national chairman of the party.
Speaking during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja, Kachikwu alleged that Mark was imposed by a faction of the party.
He lamented that Nigeria can not continue to have same set of leaders, adding that it is time for fresh politicians to be given the chance to run the affairs of the nation.
Speaking on the coalition, he said the party is not against a coalition but that the politicians need to start from the grassroots rather than chasing the party’s elected officials out of the party for their personal gain.
Kachikwu explained that he was invited to a meeting late last year and early this year about the coalition but backed out when he realised the motive was to return power to the north.

“But I had one question. And my question was this, seeing that we just finished eight years of President Buhari, and that President Tinubu is his first term, Do you agree and accept that if there is a coalition, that the South is in their first term, and will be allowed to produce the flag bearer of this coalition, and their response was, we are taking our power back”.
