The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has advised motorists to make use of alternative routes on Friday, June 13, 2025, as the Apo-Wasa road will be temporarily closed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commission the road project .
According to a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, the road closure will be in effect from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to facilitate the smooth commissioning of the newly constructed Left-Hand Service Carriageway of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) Stage II, stretching from Ring Road I (RRI) Junction to Wasa Junction.
To minimize inconvenience, traffic enforcement personnel will be deployed across the affected areas to guide motorists and ensure orderly movement throughout the duration of the closure.
The FCTA appealed to residents and commuters to cooperate with traffic officials and bear with the temporary disruption, noting that the project represents a significant step toward improving road infrastructure and easing traffic flow in the territory.
In a related development, traders, mechanics, and shop owners at Apo Mechanic Village have voluntarily agreed to shut down operations on the day of the event to welcome President Tinubu and participate in the commissioning.
Business activities are expected to resume on Saturday in the area.
The administration expressed appreciation for the support of the local community and reiterated its commitment to developing key infrastructure that will enhance mobility and economic growth within the FCT.
