The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that residents affected by the N16 Road Construction were allocated and 200% compensation.
Wike stated this in Abuja, when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned the newly completed road, initiated and completed by the current administration within the last eight months.
Wike, who was visibly elated over the completed project, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as an unprecedented pace of infrastructural development, which was made possible by his express approvals for people-oriented projects.
The former Rivers State governor turned FCT Minister stressed that he would not allow himself to be distracted by critics who are enemies of progressive development.
He noted that the works of this administration speak for themselves, in view of the national attention the projects have garnered.
He sarcastically pointed out that he would ensure all national television stations hook up throughout the 17 days, irrespective of criticisms from some quarters, such that the critics will have no station to tune to, rather than to watch Mr. President’s uncommon second-year achievements.

“I was watching. I didn’t know that people can be pained, and now I know that such people are pained, my duty now is to make sure I give them high blood pressure”.
“I will be happy every time, moving, laughing, and then, they will just be fighting and shouting and killing themselves”.
“So, Mr. President, we want to thank you that we are part of this. Your good work has killed the opposition coalition.
“And I told my people, make sure that every national television was hooking. So if they turn to ADBN, they are watching Mr. President. If they turn to TVC, it’s Mr. President. If they go to Channels, Mr. President. If you go to NTA, Mr. President. So they have no choice, and they must watch it for 17 days.”
The N16 Road Project is part of the broader FCT infrastructural push under the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at opening up the city to decongest traffic and boost economic activities across Abuja.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also used the occasion to commend the FCT Minister’s gesture of not only relocating the affected persons in Gishiri community, but for giving them 200% compensation, signifying a humane way of governance.
“We thank the Minister of FCT too for relocating your community with peace and good compensation.
“The road belongs to the communities and citizens of Abuja and us as the Federal Government. I urge you to protect it and use it wisely. The government has played its part, we did not ignore you.
You (Gishiri community) have been relocated, not that we grabbed the land. Like any government, we want development, but how well we organize and execute them depends on us because we are there because of the trust you have in us,” Tinubu noted.
