EACCI To Invest Over $300m In Nigeria’s Agricultural Sector

todayJune 10, 2025

Background

The European- Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industries, EuroAfricaCCI and her Partners are to invest over $300m in establishing a ranch and cocoa production between June and December this year.

The Director General of EACCI, Amb. Dr. Kingsley Obasohan made this known while speaking with newsmen on Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration in Abuja.

Amb Kingsley Obasohan said the move is part of EACCI ‘s efforts towards contributing to national development in Nigeria through investment in the country’s agricultural sector.

According to him, EACCI is also working with an Agency of Government to set up a Ranch in Nigeria towards creating jobs for the teeming Nigerian youths and women.

We’re looking at investment of 200 million dollars in ranching alone because this is a huge business in Nigeria and we’ll also invest in fisheries and the Chamber is also working with Mortgage Bank to see how we can finance some projects in Nigeria most especially in the area of housing “.

In his words, “We are equally working with the Federal and State Governments to support the youths through vocational and skills acquisition towards making them self reliant and employers of labour”.

“European African Chamber of Commerce and Industries will be partnering with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning towards ensuring capacity building for Nigerian youths most especially in the area of Information and Communication Technology, ICT, because a lot of them do not have the skills needed for empowerment and job creation hence the need for us to embark on youth development project in Nigeria” the Director General explained.

He further stated that youths with necessary skills such as Artisans with training on carpentry, shoe making, fashion designing and so on would also be supported to enable them contribute meaningfully to the growth of Nigeria’s economy.

While congratulating President Bola Tinubu and all Nigerians on the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day celebration, Amb Obasohan stressed the need for all stakeholders to effectively support the policies and programmes of the present administration towards delivering the dividends of democracy to the citizens.

“The current administration is actually trying but the truth is that, they can still do more especially in the area of agriculture which is supposed to be the biggest employer of labour and what President Bola Tinubu’s administration needs to do is to put in place necessary economical friendly policies and effective regulatory policies in the system that can support a lot of people most especially small scale business owners because Nigeria is a mono economic country and we mainly depend on oil when agriculture is supposed to be the major focus.

“Therefore, I want to advise the government at all levels to put in place more enabling environments that would fast track national development through diversification of the economy using agriculture “, he added.
