The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Abbass Tajuden, says the House has made significant progress in its legislative agenda.
He said since its inauguration in June 2023, the House has been extraordinarily proactive and productive, introducing a record number of bills and proposals geared towards critical reforms.
Dr Abbass stated this in Abuja at the inaugural Policy Dialogue on the Legislative Agenda of the house, organized by the Policy and Advocacy Centre, PLAC, the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, NALTF, and the UK International Development.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of collaborative governance in aligning the legislative agenda with the executive arm of government.
He also highlighted the House’s efforts to engage with Nigerians and respond to their needs, ensuring that the legislative process is inclusive and transparent.
According to him, the House’s legislative agenda focuses on key areas such as strengthening good governance, enhancing national security, revitalizing the economy, reforming laws, and promoting social development.
The Speaker reaffirmed the House’s commitment to delivering good governance, enhancing national security, and promoting social development.
The Speaker noted that the House has remained focused and resilient in pursuing its goals, even when unforeseen issues arose.
The policy dialogue provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the House’s progress and provide feedback on its performance.
The event had in attendance top government officials and organisations at the federal and state levels, the private sector, and the diplomatic corps.
