Dogara Urges 10th Assembly To Prioritize Legislative Agenda

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, has called on the 10th Assembly to prioritize its legislative agenda despite external pressures.

Hon Dogara made the call in Abuja while delivering a good will message on behalf of past principal officers of the House at the inaugural Policy Dialogue of the 10th House of Representatives, organized by the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre, Uk Aid and the National Library Trust Fund, NALTF.

The Former Speaker emphasized the need for effective implementation of the legislative agenda, saying Nigerians want action, not just promises.

Hon Dogara recounted his experience during the 8th Assembly, where a former President intervened over sectoral debates on economic diversification.

He praised the current House leadership for engaging stakeholders and development partners to ensure accountability.

The former Speaker also encouraged the House to translate its legislative agenda into reality, saying “what brings transformation is not what we know, it’s not even what we teach, it’s what we do.”

Dogara pledged the support of former presiding officers, saying they would “never shy away” from the House of Representatives.
