HOR : Public Petitions Committee Summons Benue, Zamfara Governors

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has summoned the governors of Benue and Zamfara states and the leaders of their state assemblies to appear before it on Thursday May 8, 2025.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mr Mike Etaba, said the invitees will be expected to explain why their functions should not be taken over by the House.

The move follows a petition by a civil rights group, the Guardians of Democracy and Rule of Law, seeking federal control of the two state assemblies.

Etaba said the hearing aims to uphold the rule of law and give parties a chance to state their cases, adding that anarchy will not be allowed.
