NAHCON To Hosts 2nd National Hajj Stakeholders Summit.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is set to host the 2nd National Hajj Stakeholders Summit on April 30, 2025, at the NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja.

The summit, themed “Sustainable Hajj Financing: Developing a Resilient Model for Nigerian Pilgrims and Operators,” aims to explore innovative solutions to ensure the future sustainability of Hajj operations in Nigeria.

The Chairman/CEO of the Commission Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman explained that the Stakeholders Summit will provide an opportunity for government agencies, private operators, Islamic financial institutions, and fintech innovators to forge a united vision.

It reflects NAHCON’s commitment to building a Hajj system that remains accessible and resilient despite economic uncertainties”

“The Hajj industry globally faces significant challenges, including currency fluctuations, escalating service costs, and changing regulatory environments. These pressures have made Hajj increasingly expensive for Nigerian pilgrims,there is need for sustainable financial models that will guarantee affordability, efficiency, and integrity”

According to professor Usman, he said NAHCON has introduced the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) to promote financial discipline, transparency, and affordability.

The HSS offers multiple advantages, including Financial discipline to encourages systematic savings and better financial planning ,Economic empowerment where Pooled funds are invested in Shari’ah-compliant ventures to subsidize Hajj costs
Transparency to ensure clear and accountable management of pilgrims’ contributions, Exchange rate protection to reduces vulnerability to currency fluctuations through early savings and
Lower Cost through Early Planning”

Key Participants expected for the summit includes Vice President Kashim Shettima as Special Guest of Honour, the Sultan of Sokoto, Ministers and Members of the National Assembly, Government agencies, Private operators, Islamic financial institutions,Fintech innovators-, Experts, stakeholders, and policymakers.

The 2nd National Hajj Stakeholders Summit is a bold statement of NAHCON’s readiness to safeguard and grow Nigeria’s Hajj industry. Supporting the Hajj Savings Scheme strengthens Nigeria’s reputation for organized, transparent, and affordable Hajj operations.
