The House of Representatives has passed a bill to establish the National Agency for Technology Incubation (NATI) through its second reading.
The bill Sponsored by member representing Member | Isoko North/Isoko South of Delta State, Ukodhiko Ajiroghene Jonathan, aims to repeal the Technology Business Incubation Foundation Act and replace the 30-year-old National Board for Technology Incubation.
Jonathan, while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the bill emphasized that NATI will promote commercialization of research, manage technology incubators, facilitate indigenous technologies, set standards, and foster partnerships between the academia, industry, and government.
According to him, NATI will provide the necessary framework for innovation and entrepreneurship to flourish.
“The agency will operate Technology Incubation Centres across Nigeria, utilizing the Triple Helix Concept of collaboration among government, industry, and the academia.
The bill’s success now hinges on swift passage by the National Assembly.
Once passed, NATI will drive technological innovation and incubation across Nigeria.
