The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has extended his sympathies to victims of the devastating fire at Onitsha Main Market in Anambra State.
The fire, which broke out over the weekend, ravaged several buildings in the market, leaving traders and property owners with significant losses.
In a statement in Abuja, by his Special Adviser Press Affairs, Udora Orizu, Kalu urges security agencies to conduct a swift investigation into the incident, determining its cause and implementing measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
He commends the efforts of the fire service agency and individuals who helped contain the blaze, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety regulations and precautions to prevent future incidents.
The deputy speaker who expresses relief that no life was lost in the fire called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant agencies to provide immediate relief to affected traders and residents, helping to mitigate the impact of the incident.
