The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud says the 14th Zuma film festival schedule to take place in the territory will build collaboration, foster inspiration, and cultural exchange.

Mahmoud stated this during a media briefing ahead of the 2024 Zuma international film festival in Abuja.

Mahmoud explained that in a world of increasing storytelling, the contribution of the film industry was vital in bridging cultures and igniting conversations.

The Minister called on the participants to embrace the opportunity to honour the collective passion for the growth of arts.

She encouraged her counterpart from the Ministry of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa to put in place modalities that will sustain and outlive the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

“For us in the nation’s capital, this festival is not just a showcase of cinematic creativity, it is a vibrant platform that builds collaboration, inspiration, and cultural exchange.”

“In a world increasingly shaped by visual storytelling, your contributions are vital in bridging cultures and igniting conversations.”

“In line with the 2024 theme: “Digital Renaissance: Embracing the Future”, this year’s festival promises to spotlight diverse narratives that resonate with our shared humanity, reminding us of the power of film to challenge perceptions and spark change.”

“Therefore, let all of us embrace this opportunity to honour our collective passion for the arts, support one another, and celebrate the remarkable talent that each of you brings to the screen.”

“I also call on my colleague, the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, to put in place modalities that will sustain and outlive the present administration of President Bola Tinubu”.

In her remarks, the Director, Reform Coordination & Service Improvement, Federal Capital Territory, Dr Jumai Ahmadu said the administration was committed to the growth of the creativity industry, and would always provide the enabling environment for the industry to thrive.

She commended the organisers for the coordination and zeal to drive the film festival.
