Senate has confirmed the nomination of Dr Bala Bello, representing North -East as part-time Chairman of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
The red chamber also confirmed five other nominees for appointment as Non -Executive Directors of AMCON.
Their confirmation was sequel to presentation and adoption of report of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions by Senator Osita Izunaso at plenary in Abuja
The nominees who were confirmed as Non – Executive Directors of AMCON, includes Yusuf Tegina Sule representing North- Central, Mr Adeyemo Adeeoye Stephen representing South-West, Mr Yahaya Ibrahim representing North-West.
Others are Mr Odion Charles Iyare, representing the South-South and Mrs Emily Chidinma Osuji representing South-East.
Earlier, while presenting the report of the committee for consideration, Sen.Osita Izunaso(APC-Imo)on behalf of the committee Chairman said the committee after a robust engagement with the nominees, being satisfied with their experiences performances and academic qualifications recommends the senate to confirm their appointment.
He said there was no petition against the nominees, having been cleared by the security agencies, the Police and the Department of State Security Services (DSS).
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio after the confirmation thanked the committee members for screening of the nominees .
He expressed hope that the new managers of AMCON would bring a new vigour in the discharge of their duties .
