PCC Commits To Eradicate Injustices, Uphold Human Rights

The Public Complaints Commission, PCC has promised to eradicate all forms of injustices, protect the rights of Nigerians and electricity consumers in the country through resolution of complaints.

Chief Commissioner of PCC, Mr Bashir Abubakar, made the promise in Abuja during a workshop on Electricity Consumers Complaints.

There is presently a growing dissatisfaction among electricity consumers across the country concerning the poor quality of services provided by the Electricity Distribution Companies nationwide .

it is in view of this that the Public Complaints Commission organized a one day workshop to investigate and proffer solutions to the challenges in the country’s power sector

Addressing participants at the workshop, the Chief Commissioner of PCC, Mr Bashir Abubakar explained that the event was timely as it would set agenda to proactively investigate how consumers and citizens are treated in terms of administration and beaucratic issues that affects handling of electricity complaints and other matters.

Mr Bashir emphasized that inline with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration, the workshop was anchored on reforms aimed at repositioning the economy for prosperity, social and economic well being of Nigerians.

On his part, the FCT Commissioner of PCC, Mr Musa Dikko, said the Complaints would be resolved through synergy between the commission and the legislature as it was mandated to conduct an investigation and make recommendations as well as a policy that would address the problem.

Earlier, the Chief Complainant and Public Analyst, Princemil Okorie who expressed concern over the continued disregard for the rights of citizens and electricity consumers as well as injustices meted out on them called for urgent intervention in the matter.

Also speaking, the Senator representing FCT, Ireti Kingibe and House of Representatives member representing AMAC and Bwari, Chinedu Obika assured that they would not relent in their efforts to ensure that justice is served and Nigerians receive quality services.
