Kapital FM 92.9 The Station that Rocks!
The Nigerian Armed Forces say they have intensified ongoing military operations across the country, delivering significant blows to terrorist networks and criminal activities.
According to a statement by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, troops have remained focused on dismantling terrorist infrastructures and eliminating key combatants.
The statement notes that during the past week, troops neutralized 118 terrorists and arrested 97 others, while also apprehending 18 individuals involved in oil theft and rescuing 96 hostages from kidnappers in various parts of the country.
It states that in the South-South region, military efforts thwarted oil thefts valued at over N793 million, demonstrating their resolve to safeguard the nation’s resources.
The statement further highlights the recovery of an array of weapons and ammunition during the operations, with a total of 87 weapons and 2,244 rounds of assorted ammunition seized, including AK-47 rifles, RPGs, and pump-action guns.
It explains that other items recovered include vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, and over N778,000 in cash, adding that troops operating in the Niger Delta region destroyed several illegal refining sites, including 44 sites for refining crude oil, and seized over 600,000 liters of stolen crude oil along with other illegal petroleum products.
Major General Buba emphasizes that the armed forces are gaining significant ground in their fight against terrorism. He assures the public that the military will continue to adapt its strategies to ensure the safety and security of citizens across Nigeria.
