The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has threatened to arrest the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, Richard Dauda, if he fails to appear before the committee on Thursday.
The committee, chaired by Michael Etaba, is investigating Dauda’s role in an alleged contravention of the building code in the federal capital territory.
The probe follows a petition filed by the chairman of the House Committee on Customs, Leke Abejide, regarding a property at AO9399 cadastral zone.
Mr Etaba expressed surprise that Dauda, based in Abuja, chose not to attend the hearing.
The committee is determined to resolve the matter quickly, citing concerns over the alleged building code infraction.
Counsel to Abejide, Samuel Ajayi, confirmed that similar petitions were filed with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Director of Development Control, Muktar Galadima, seeking their intervention in the matter.
