In a significant effort to promote entrepreneuship and human capacity development, Head of Federal Civil Service of Nigeria, has pledged continuous partnership with the private sector for national development.
Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, who made the call at the graduating ceremony of the 4th cohort of the AIG public leaders programme 2024, said the necessary legal frame has been put in place to build world class leaders by equipping them with skills, knowledge, and the mindset required to drive innovation and excellence in public service.
She commended the Aig-Imoukhuede foundation for the unwavering commitment to improve public sector governance in Nigeria and across Africa.
“Your public leaders programme alligns perfectly with our vision of building an efficient, productive, incorruptible public sector by contributing actively to various initiatives of the Federal Civil Service strategy and implementation plan in various expertise.”
In a keynote address, the immediate past vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said the AIG public leaders programme initiative has contributed to building human capacity in Nigeria and across the continent hence the civil service holds the key to the nation’s success.
He commended the Aig-Imoukhuede foundation and its technical partners Blavatnik school of government, Oxford University and the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation Alumni members that has produced 4 graduating sets otherwise known as 4 cohorts with world class training designed to tackle the complex and rapid growing challenges in the continent.
“I have been privileged to deliver the inaugural speech to this very good initiative in March 2022, and extremely proud of the excellent job done so far. In response to the evolving realities, innovation is no longer optional but, a core function of the government, so regulatory frameworks must continously respond to new development to unlock opportunities and protect public interest.”
Earlier, the Chairman Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede said the essence of the 6 months intense learning on various public service applications was a quest to build a strong and more impactful continent, particularly Nigeria which has potential that is yet to be realized.
“When we have inspired you to recognize the power within you, our next job is connecting you with the person beside you who recognizes they have that power as well. The collectively powerful Aig-Imoukhuede foundation, Blavatnik school of government, Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation Alumni has the power to transform Nigeria to a much better place.”
On her part, the Faculty leader, AIG Public Leaders Programme from the Blavatnik school of government, Oxford University, Prof. Emily Jones said the 68 exceptional graduants from the class of 2024 who were carefully selected demonstrated their full capacity in public leadership administration.
She however added that the initiative has touched so many lives positively especially in the public sector to drive positive change, adding that the graduation is not the end but, beginning of their life in partnership with the Blavatnik public school, Oxford University and Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation Alumni who is solidly behind them to achieve their aims and purposes.
