Focus More On People Oriented Projects For Nigs To Benefit- Akanji

todayMarch 2, 2025

Background

The federal government has been urged to focus more on people oriented projects to enable Nigerians to benefit from the dividends of democracy.

The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Reverend Israel Akanji, made this call in Abuja at the FCT Baptist Conference themed “Celebrating God Who Answers Prayers.”

Reverend Akanji, who commended President Tinubu for his various reforms, emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to ensure that government policies yield positive results with direct impact on Nigerians.

“President Tinubu, i am saying on behalf of Nigerians that we thank you for the great work you are doing and for the measures being taken but more is needed. We want to say that there should be continuous efforts to make things easy for people.”

On his part, the President of the FCT Baptist Conference, Reverend Dogara Gwana, stressed the importance of Christians living a holy life to attract divine intervention.

“It is God who receives our prayers and he is the one who answers them. But the Bible also tells us that he is too holy to behold iniquity, therefore, we encourage our members to be in good standing with God so he will be pleased with them and then, when we pray, we can be sure that God answers prayers”.

Similarly, Reverend Tom Takpatore of First Baptist Church Garki urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for the nation to overcome its challenges.

Reverend Takpatore who is also the Chairman of the FCT Baptist conference stressed further, “Our theme this year is that we should join our hearts together, go on our knees and cry unto God who answers prayer, to pray for our nation. Trusting him, holding on to God in prayers that he will intervene in our nation.”

In their separate remarks, the FCT Baptist Conference Women Missionary Union President, Pastor Mrs. Ronke Kehinde and her Men Mission Union counterpart, Reverend Kehinde Ogunsanya, pledged to continue teaching and moulding members to be good ambassadors of the church and the country.
