In the quest to achieve the administration’s Policy Trust, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission, Mallam Shehu Mohammed has commenced comprehensive capacity-building programme for 1,646 personnel across all cadres.
Addressing the closing of the training, Mallam Mohammed said the capacity-building program was designed to equip staff with the latest skills, knowledge, and best practices in road safety management.
Represented by the Deputy Corps Marshal in charge of Training, Mr Chidi Okwonta, the FRSC Boss, said, investing in personnel, is investing in the future of road safety in Nigeria.
The Corps Marshal said that the initiative underscored his commitment to repositioning FRSC as a leading road safety agency, equipped to address the complex challenges of modern road safety management.
He added that the various training programmes would feature a combination of theoretical and practical training sessions, workshops, and mentoring, conducted by in-house and international experts.
He added that the program that had commenced in all the training institutions of the Corps focused on: traffic enforcement and management, road safety education and advocacy.
Other areas include: data analysis and research, leadership and management development, digital literacy, and technology adoption among others.
“This comprises of the training of 341 Unit Commanders, 415 Road Marshal Assistants for enhanced professionalism and civility to the motoring public.
“Also 700 Drivers, 90 Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, as well as 100 junior Officers are participating in the training nationwide.”
The FRSC boss assured that the FRSC would prioritise professional development for its officers and personnel.
Meanwhile, the Corps Marshal also inagurated a Marshal refresher course on repositioning FRSC for enhanced service delivery in patrol and rescue operations.
