Chelsea forward Nicholas Jackson has hit back at former Super Eagles captain and Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi following his impressive display in the Blues’ 6-2 away victory against Wolverhampton.

Earlier, the former Chelsea player had expressed disappointment with Jackson after Chelsea’s first defeat of the 2024-25 English Premier League season against Manchester City.

The ex-Nigeria international questioned Jackson’s ability to deliver in attack, suggesting that Chelsea’s current striker options were lacking.

Obi stated that strikers need to be able to find the back of the net, as he means no disrespect to the striker.

“You need a striker who knows how to find the back of the net, and that’s something we’re missing.

I know I often criticize him [Nicholas Jackson], and it may come across as disrespect, but that’s not my intention.”

In Chelsea’s clash against Wolves, Jackson opened the scoring and assisted Cole Palmer in the 45th minute, showcasing his attacking prowess to Enzo Maresca.

Following his standout performance, Jackson responded to Obi’s remarks with a fiery post on social media:

“Mikel Obi, shut your mouth, don’t talk shit. We are killing ourselves in Africa.”

Chelsea will next face Swiss club Servette before continuing their English Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace the following weekend.

The Senegalese will be eager to showcase his value and build on his recent performance as the team prepares for these upcoming fixtures.

Many football fans were shocked that Jackson would call out a club legend in that manner. However, it was the Senegalese striker that got the backing of the fans.

Most of the reactions, Mikel Only scored six goals for Chelsea while Jackson had 14 just last year.

According to Chelsea fans, Mikel was not professional in addressing the issue and deserved ‘shut up’ by Nicolas Jackson. – Imago

They also were of the opinion that Mikel did not address this situation professionally so he deserved what Jackson said.

Some were also of the opinion that Mikel wanted his compatriot Victor Osimhen at Chelsea despite fans clamoring that he is not necessary.
