The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Kemi Nandap has directed Comptrollers of Border commands and Commanders to prevent infiltration of criminal elements that can undermine the peace of the nation.
The CG gave the directive when she met with them at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja.
According to the CG, the move would ensure efficient border security and migration management as they are the core mandates of Immigration Service.
Mrs Kemi Nandap instructed Comptrollers to employ supervisory strategies, ensure timely report of major movements and professionally handle sensitive intelligence requiring urgent attention with recommendation for enhanced border monitoring.
The CGIS who charged that the reports must be submitted weekly through approved administrative channels also directed the immediate submission of both manpower and logistics audit.
She tasked Commanders on the need for a robust inter-agency collaboration for effective intelligence sharing.
The Comptroller General, however, ordered the removal of unauthorized checkpoints and called for conduct of high routine patrols to completely forestall dangerous and illegal elements from entering the country.
She reiterated the Service’s commitment to the deployment of e-solutions, trainings and the welfare of officers in the field.
