Federal Government Moves Against Bullying In Schools

Background

In a bid to curb the menace of bullying in schools, the Federal ministry of Education has inaugurated a 7man committee, reinforcing commitment to students welfare and safe learning environment.

At the occasion in Abuja, the minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa stressed the need for effective intervention towards addressing the menace, noting the psychological impact of bullying on students is dangerous if not checked.

Dr Alausa reiterated the ministry’s commitment to zero tolerance stance on bullying, while urging school administrators, teachers, parents and students to support this initiative in line with the renewed hope Agenda of prioritizing Education as a driver for national development.

The Committee will review reported cases and ensure swift action, while complimenting the 21 member team working on a National policy on Anti-Bullying.
