The Federal Ministry of Education has commenced an investigation into the alleged sexual harassment case involving one Mr Jatto, a teacher at the Federal Government Girls College, FGGC Benin, Edo state.
However, following a preliminary review, it has been established that the case in question is not a sexual harassment case but an issue of high handedness in classroom management, which was misrepresented.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry, Boriowo Folashade.
It explains that an investigation panel was set up by the school and has already submitted its report.
It further notes that Mr Jatto was on prep supervision duty at the time of the incident and responded to a rowdy classroom situation.
According to the statement, the school principal has been summoned to the headquarters in Abuja for further clarification as the investigation continues.
The ministry, however, reiterates commitment towards transparency and upholding the integrity of educational institutions across the country while urging the public to remain calm as final findings will be made public .
