Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike says the Renewed Hope Agenda, RHA, of President Tinubu is revolutionalizing and prioritising provision of impactful infrastructure in rural communities .
Wike stated this while inspecting two ongoing road projects connecting various communities in Abaji Area Council.
He explained that provision of basic infrastructure for the rural dwellers will fast track rural development and check Rural- Urban migration.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the level of work done by the contractors, noting that the road project will significantly connect various communities in Abaji, facilitate easy transportation and movement for the residents of the area.
According to Wike, tremendous infrastructure development has taken place within the space of Mr President’s one year in office.
“What we are seeing today is a complete revolution to transform our rural areas. This is all about the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President to make sure that every area is impacted positively.
“People are saying nothing is happening in the rural areas, you can attest to the fact that things are really happening. Even the press can attest to the fact that this has never happened before in the Administration of FCT.
“Most people who complained have not had the opportunity to really visit the rural areas and see what the Renewed Hope is all about, and that is why we are saying with patience, a lot of things will be done.
“We have always said that we are not only concentrating on the city centre, we are also trying to open up the satellite towns, because it is the believe of Mr President to also try to discourage people from migrating to the city.” Wike said.
Responding to questions from Journalists on whether heightened security measures in place around the eagle square was connected with the proposed August 1st protest, Wike noted that he did not approve the use of eagle square for any event.
He was of the opinion that such national assets deserved to be protected from vandals, which may have necessitated security personnel’s decision to guard the facility.
“We don’t want to take anything for granted. We want to make sure that security is tight , intact, and I never approved the use of Eagle Square to anybody .
“Maybe that must have informed the security to make sure all the public areas are well protected and not to allow hoodlums to take advantage and begin to vandalise our infrastructure, so that may be the reason”, Wike said.
