Primate Church Of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba has appealed to Nigerians not to allow desperate politicians to take advantage of the current situation to disrupt peaceful coexistence in the country.

The Primate who made the appeal while addressing Anglican Chancellors, Registrars and Legal Officers in Abuja said, though the country was passing through a challenging period, Nigerians and government should use dialogue to resolve challenges facing the country .

He maintained that Nigerians have the right to exercise their constitutional rights but expressed worry that the situation might be hijacked by hoodlums.

According to Ndukuba, “We commend the Federal Government for the steps taken so far to address the situation and complaints of the people. But those who speak for the Government should not turn down their Rhetorics to be more conciliatory.”

“Government should engage in Dialogue and negotiations for the sake of Peace, Law and Order because there is a possibility that miscreants and political disgruntled people can hijack a peaceful protest and turn it into a weapon to settle scores and destroy lives and property.”

“Above all we call on Nigerians to a Prayer and Solemn Assembly to seek the face and intervention of God in our nation. We call for an end to corruption and looting of the treasury of this notion.”

Archbishop Ndukuba assured that the Church would continue its social responsibility to the vulnerable and advised that religious and corporate bodies should replicate such as this would contribute to the economic and social development of the country.

“Therefore, we renew our commitment to the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us stand firm in our faith, knowing that through Christ, we have the strength to overcome every obstacle and fulfill His command to make disciples of all nations. May our hearts be united in prayer and purpose as we embark on this journey together, trusting in God’s providence and grace.”

The Cleric passionately appealed to the government to urgently work out modalities to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians and the current security situation in the country.

The theme of the conference is “to whom shall we go,” which speaks volumes and became the reference for the prayers offered at the conference for God’s divine intervention in Nigeria.
