Four Kidnapped victims from kuje Area council have been successfully rescued by the kwali local vigilance group.

Chairman, Kwali Area Council, Danladi Chiya who made this known when the FCT Minister visited the Area to inspect road projects, explained that the victims were forcefully picked from their homes in Kuje Area Council and smuggled into Kwali forest, by the kidnappers.

Narrating his ordeal, one of the rescued victims, Isaac Gbemu, said, “we were in our house around midnight when we heard gunshots. Initially, we thought it was armed robbers.”

“But when the people broke into the compound, we discovered they were kidnappers. They took us away that night and brought us to the bush where we don’t know, and we have spent 3 days before the Vigilante rescued us this morning”.

The victims were presented to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike at Kwaita Yebu community in Kwali Area Council on Tuesday.

Wike who was visibly excited with the proactive efforts of the vigilante group motivated them with a cash reward and an operational vehicle.

Meanwhile, Wike while inspecting the ongoing 25-km Kwaita – Yebu, and 11km Yangoji – Sukuku – Ebo roads in Kwali, gave the contractors handling the projects ultimatum to complete the job by December this year.

Wike assured the contractors that funds to complete the job are readily available.

“On our own part in terms of funding, we will not delay. It will not be a problem. They know that we have been funding them and we will continue to fund them.

“The date is December, and we are not going to extend and it, I have confidence in Gilmor and other contractors who are involved in the construction of these roads in the satellite towns, that they would keep to the promises they have made”.

“We have said before that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just for the city, it is also for the rural areas”.

“Today, this is the second road we are visiting as far as Kwali Area Council is concerned. Where we are standing now is the 11km road, and you can imagine the impact the road will have on the people when it is completed in December this year”.

“No right thinking government will fold its arms and allow people to come and cause mayhem, destroy property and then we go back to square one.So, with what we are doing, you can see the people of Abuja are happy, they appreciate the level of work that is going on”.

Kwali youths in their numbers were carrying placards with inscriptions such as: “Support Tinubu to make Nigeria better, FCT Youths Say NO to Protest, Embrace Peace, Not Protest, Protest is Not Our National Interest ” among others.
