The Federal Government says it will not tolerate any form of corruption and indiscipline among officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

The Secretary to the government of the federation, Senator George Akume stated this in Abuja, during his first strategic meeting with Sector and zonal commanding officers across the Thirty Six states and FCT said the present administration was expecting greater efforts towards achieving Zero road accidents in the country.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Services office, the SGF urged the senior officers to live above board and monitor the activities of personnel for effective traffic control.

According to the Secretary to the government of the federation, FRSC should work assiduously and create a safer motoring environment towards the realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration.

He charged the management to collaborate with other security operatives and traffic management agencies in their respective commands as the present administration would provide necessary assistance to enhance FRSC operations.

In his opening remarks, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mallam Shehu Mohammed while speaking on the theme of the strategic meeting “Repositioning FRSC For Enhanced Service Delivery” said commanding officers will be henceforth held responsible for any infraction in their commands.

He said the current statistics of road crashes in the country are still alarming and unacceptable hence the need to redouble efforts to check the menace.

According to him, between January and June this year, there were 5,078 reported cases of road accidents in which 2,776 people lost their lives and 16,309 were injured.

Mallam Shehu Mohammed also urged the commanding officers to challenge their operatives for a more practical approach to road safety management.

The FRSC Corps Marshal therefore appealed to the motoring public to give maximum cooperation to the Corps in efforts to reposition it and achieve set goals.
