FG Moves To Reduce No Of Passport Issuing Centers

Background

In a bid to reduce the number of passport issuing centres and bring integrity to the nation’s passport system and security, the Federal Government says the centralized personalization of twenty one countries will kick-start on February 3rd this year.

The Minister of Interior Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who stated this at his first media parley for year 2025 in Abuja reaffirmed total delivery of the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu saying that the government would do everything possible to bring back the nation’s glory as the giant of Africa.

He noted that the agencies under his ministry are committed to the Federal Government’s efforts to improve security so as to enhance growth and development.

Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo stressed that his utmost plan was to see that paramilitary agencies harness technology to drive the nation’s process to attract public trust and confidence.

 

The Minister disclosed that the ministry in year 2024 blocked revenue leakages through automation process thereby increasing the internally generated revenue by over 150 percent.

In a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani emphasized that the ministry would continue to collaborate with the media to ensure that the ministry’s key initiatives aimed at enhancing national security and service delivery is achieved.

The media parley was attended by heads of paramilitary agencies under the purview of the ministry of Interior and permanent secretary of the ministry as well as the secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Immigration and fire board.
