The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Industry, Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru has emphasized the need for legislation to align with contemporary needs in skills acquisition and management.

Dr Badru stated this in Abuja during a public hearing on the Bill to amend the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Act 2011.

The public hearing, organized by the Committee, aimed to consider the Bill of 2024, which seeks to clarify ambiguities, define important terms, and enhance the Fund’s revenue sources.

According to Dr. Badru, the existing legal framework enacted in 2011, requires updating to reflect the evolution of skills acquisition and management over the past thirteen years.

He noted that the 10th House is committed to legislation that enhances the citizenry’s quality of life, and this public hearing marks a significant step in the passage of the Bill.

“The event, described as grassroots-oriented and development-focused, was attended by honourable ministers, chief executives of government agencies, and stakeholders”

Dr. Badru assured Nigerins that the Committee would synthesize stakeholders’ views and arrive at a just and reasonable position, which would be presented to the House for adoption.
