HOR : PBAT Seeks Amendment Of Appropriation Act From 28.7tr To 34.9tr

President Bola Tinubu has requested the House of Representatives to amend the 2024 Appropriation Act by increasing it by N6.2 trillion, which would raise the budget from N28.7 trillion to N34.9 trillion.

The President’s letter, read by the Speaker, Dr Tajudeen Abbas during plenary, seeks to allocate N3.2 trillion for infrastructure projects and N3 trillion for recurrent expenditure.

Additionally, President Tinubu asked the House to amend the Finance Act of 2023 to introduce a windfall tax on banks’ foreign exchange gains.

In response, the House passed the two bills for second reading.
