The Kogi State Independent
Electoral Commission, KOSIEC, has fixed Saturday, October nineteen, for conduct of chairmanship and councillorship elections in all twenty one Local government areas of the state.
Chairman of KOSIEC, Mr. Mamman Eri stated this at a stakeholders meeting in Lokoja, the state capital.
Mr Eri said the conduct of the local government election was in line with the provision of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria nineteen ninety nine as amended and the powers vested in the state Independent Electoral Commission.
He noted that the electoral activities had been designed with utmost consideration for inclusivity and adherence to electoral laws for a transparent, fair, and credible process.
According to him, candidates for the councillorship race are to pay the sum of one hundred thousand naira each for the forms while chairmanship candidates are to pay the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira only for the forms.
The KOSIEC chairman also called for the collaboration and support of all stakeholders for a successful election.
