Kogi Gov’s Wife Decries Youths Involvement In Social Vices

todayDecember 11, 2024

Background

Wife of the Governor of Kogi State, Hajiya Sefinat Ododo has decried the involvement of the younger generation in social vices.

Mrs Ododo stated this in continuation of the 16 days of Activism and awareness campaign on the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls in Okene.

The First Lady who expressed concern over the level of moral decadence in the social media space advised youths particularly young women to desist from acts that portray womanhood in bad light by focusing on making positive choices at all times.

Hajia Sefinat maintained that it was imperative for the youths to acquire entrepreneurial skills in relevant vocations to become self reliant and build a sustainable future.

While appealing to parents to go the extra mile in moulding their children to become responsible adults, Hajiya Sefinat charged them to take advantage of the free education of the administration of Governor Usman Ododo to enroll their children and wards in schools.

Speaking at the occasion, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Anaje who emphasized the importance of discipline in the family, implored parents, particularly fathers not to abandon their duties as heads of their families.

In a remark, Director General, Kogi State Pension Commission, Maryam Abedo, advised women to discourage any form of molestation before and after marriage and always speak out by reporting such cases to the appropriate authority.

She called on parents to pay attention to their children and get close to them so that they can always confide in them when there are such issues.
