Kaduna Govt To Enroll Additional 350,000 Residents In Health Care Scheme

todayDecember 8, 2024

Background

Kaduna State Government has concluded plans to enrol an additional 350 thousand residents into the Contributory Health Care Scheme by the year 2025.

The Director General, Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority, Mallam Abubakar Hassan stated this to newsmen in Kaduna .

Mallam Abubakar Hassan explained that the Health Scheme has witnessed an influx of thousands of people this year due to its affordability and continued engagement with relevant stakeholders.

He therefore called on all residents yet to join to make their health a priority by enrolling into the scheme.

The Director General reiterated the State Government’s resolve to improve the health status of residents, considering the recent budget allocation of over 16 per cent to the health sector.

Mallam Hassan who further stated that the state government had reduced out of pocket spending by minimizing the cost to access health care, appreciated philanthropists, corporate organizations and well meaning Nigerians for thier support in ensuring that the scheme succeeds.

‘The scheme is not all about people who work in government alone but all people in the state inrespective of where you work, both private and public ‘

‘The woman selling akara, the mechanic, the laundry man, the plower, carpenter, the tailor and all should all come and register with a yearly premium of just 10,650 Naira only, he said.”

Kaduna State Government through its Contributory Health Management Authority has lined up activities to mark this year’s Universal Health Coverage Day from the 9th to 12th aimed at drawing attention to the need for participation in the scheme and its commitment for wider coverage.

December 12 is therefore the annual rallying point for advocates to raise their voices and share the stories of millions of people still waiting for health care while calling on leaders to make more investments in the health sector.
