Purveyors of Political crisis have been urged to desist from the act as it negates the principles of law and order in the country.

Comrade Murtala Garba of the Citizens Action for Good Governance gave the advice in Abuja at a press conference on how to end the political crisis in Rivers State.

The Convener who decried the involvement of some political actors in fanning the embers of war in the oil rich state, stressed that conscious efforts should be made to stop the lingering crisis so as to put the country on the roadmap to national development.

” The crisis in Rivers State is an internal matter within the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, instead of promoting unity and resolving the issue, Honorable Ikenga and his group have chosen to take sides, exacerbating the situation, this raises questions about the true intentions of the G-60 group, their actions are not only detrimental to the PDP but also harmful to the overall well-being of the nation”.

Mr Ejike Umunnabuike who is the Co-convener of the conference called on political office holders to respect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to broker a peaceful resolution in the state.

“For the sake of clarity, the President of a country is the father of the entire nation and every individual no matter how old you are, you are supposed to respect and abide by whatever thoughts he proffers in the case of mediation”.

“A lot of people who are running comments about the crisis in Rivers State do not even understand what the issues are and for somebody to come and say that Mr President’s attempt to resolve the crisis is political and it’s not wanted, then something is wrong somewhere”.

He advised them
to strive for a democracy built on principles of integrity, unity and good conscience for the development of the nation.
